In the Footsteps of Don Camillo and Peppone: Brescello Walking Tour
Brescello: Don Camillo & Peppone
A whole town turned into a movie set. And you get to walk right through it.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Piazza Matteotti, where the statues of Don Camillo and Peppone still face each other in front of the Town Hall and the church of Santa Maria Nascente. From here we follow the "Ciak, si gira!" signs along a loop that winds through the whole village: the clapper-less bell behind the Town Hall, Peppone's house behind the church, then out into the Emilian countryside down to the banks of the Po. The ground is flat, the pace relaxed: this is walking for the joy of discovery, not for effort.
After the 1951 flood, help poured in from all over the world "for the people of Don Camillo" — a fictional town that had become very real for millions of moviegoers.
5 reasons to join - walk through the real film sets of Don Camillo and Peppone - optional detour to the Madonnina del Borghetto - three themed museums to explore in town - an easy loop, perfect for the whole family - the banks of the Po to close the day
