A flat-bottomed valley between granite walls, like Canada

Val di Fumo is one of the most captivating corners of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park: a glacial valley with a flat floor, closed in by granite walls dropping sheer onto the meadows. Its resemblance to certain Canadian landscapes earned it the nickname it has always carried.

The experience

We start from Lago di Malga Bissina, a turquoise reservoir, and walk up the valley following the Chiese stream, among wildflowers, wooden footbridges and woods of larch and fir. The height gain is minimal: barely 200 metres over 12 kilometres, practically level.

At the head of the valley Rifugio Val di Fumo awaits, where we stop for lunch before returning along the same trail. This is the hike for anyone who wants high mountains without the effort of climbing.

This is an easy hike: 12 kilometres with barely 200 metres of ascent, on a level, well-marked trail. Perfect for families, children and anyone wanting to walk in the high mountains without climbing. The car park at the dam charges a fee and must be booked: we remind you in the Telegram group.

We meet the Guidders at the car park of the Malga Bissina dam, in Daone (TN), where the walk begins. The car park charges a fee and must be booked in advance: it is not included. The exact time is shared in the outing's Telegram group.

Rifugio Val di Fumo
We walk up the valley on the level following the Chiese stream, among wildflowers, wooden footbridges and larch woods, to Rifugio Val di Fumo at the head of the valley. We stop for lunch, granite walls all around.

Back to Malga Bissina
We head back to the cars along the same trail, the valley widening ahead and the turquoise lake reappearing at the end. We take the time for a toast before saying goodbye.

Bellissima gita in Val di fumo, non troppo impegnativa. Durante la camminata ci si può conoscere meglio. C'erano anche i cavalli e la temperatura era ottima.
