WHY THIS HIKE

Trek to Lago Nero di Formazza: Ossola’s Bluest Lake

From the Toce Waterfall in Val Formazza, set off with the Guidders on a trekking adventure up to Lago Nero, in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area of Piedmont. The trail crosses alpine pastures and high-mountain terrain, then becomes steeper and rockier, with uneven sections that require sure footing and a basic level of fitness; these are only approximate indications. In return, you’ll find silence, dark water set among the mountains, and views that change at every switchback. 5 reasons - iconic start from the Toce Waterfall - a true alpine trail in Val Formazza - a high-altitude lake with raw, understated charm - a rewarding hike for those who really love the climb - a shared experience with the Guidders This hike is special because it combines one of the valley’s landmark sights with a more unusual lake, earned step by step, with the wonderful feeling of gaining altitude together with the community.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Gilberto, an environmental hiking guide. They say happiness is only real when shared, and for me there's no greater joy than a view earned together. I take people to find the most genuine side of our trails, away from the rush and at footprint pace. I can't wait to share with you not only the walking, but the stories, the silences and — why not — a good piece of cheese at the top. Backpack on, we'll work out the rest as we go. Experience, care for safety and that pinch of adventure it takes to make an outing unforgettable: joining the next walk? 🧀 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
