Beyond the treeline, the landscape transforms dramatically. We enter the high-altitude pastures, where the vegetation thins and the rocky terrain takes over. Keep an eye out for whistling marmots among the rocks, and with a bit of luck, you might spot ibex or chamois on the steeper slopes. As we ascend, the views open up to reveal the magnificent mountainous amphitheater of Vanoise, with its peaks drawing ever closer.
