WHY THIS HIKE

Stivo: balcony over Lake Garda

Two valleys, one unforgettable view: Adige on one side, Lake Garda on the other.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Passo Santa Barbara, walking into a forest lit up with autumn reds and golds. We climb past the old alpine huts of Val di Gresta, famous for its vegetable crops, gaining height steadily up to the southwest ridge. From here it's a true out-and-back trail, same path up and down, with the afternoon light shifting the mood on the way back. Just before the summit we pass close to Rifugio Prospero Marchetti, minutes from the top — indicative data on late-season opening hours.

Along the ridge you'll spot remains of WWI artillery positions, quiet witnesses scattered among the pastures. At the top, a massive iron cross and a Panoramic Observatory welcome us, with the Sarca valley, Arco and Lake Garda on one side, and Rovereto and the Adige valley on the other.

5 reasons to join - the double view: Lake Garda on one side, Adige valley on the other - Val di Gresta's golden autumn colors on the way up - WWI relics scattered along the ridge - Rifugio Marchetti just steps from the summit - the summit cross and 360° Panoramic Observatory

Who it's for Hikers with good fitness and some trail experience: the climb is demanding but technically easy, just solid legs needed.

Come soak up autumn with the Guidders: see you at Passo Santa Barbara!

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Leonardo, a Mountain Hiking Guide. I was born and raised in Trentino, among magnificent valleys and woods. I've been going up and down mountains since I was a kid: a passion passed on to me by my parents, even before I chose it for myself. Over time, I decided to turn it into my profession, because what I know about the mountains is meant to be shared, not kept to myself. I love taking people up there and watching the same love and respect I feel for these places come to life in them. With me, there's no rushing: we walk, we look around, we go back home with something more. See you in the mountains, Guidders!
