WHY THIS HIKE

Monte Barone, Valsesia and Sessera

Meeting point 8:30approximate
Alpe Piane Di Viera Partenza, Via Giovanni Porta 120, 13863 Coggiola provincia di Biella, Italia. The exact time is confirmed in the group chat. We usually meet a little earlier for breakfast together, when possible.
HOW TO GET THERE
08:30MEETING
Alpe Piane di Viera Departure
We will meet here at Alpe Piane di Viera, where the trail begins that will take us to the first refuge along the route, Rifugio La Ciota, where we can enjoy a good coffee and refill our water bottles.
09:30WATER
Climb to Ponasca
We leave Rifugio La Ciota and follow an easy path onto the ridge line, which soon becomes more demanding as we cross the Scarpie, a steep stepped climb leading to a long traverse up to Rifugio Monte Barone.
10:30MOUNTAIN HUT
Rifugio Monte Barone
Rifugio Monte Barone is a very welcoming spot, and Mara and Paolo, the hut keepers, will be there to spoil us. Here, anyone who wants to stop or doesn't feel like continuing can do so. For the bolder and better trained, the adventure continues up to the summit at 2044m. We will then return to Rifugio Monte Barone for lunch.
16:30RETURN
Return to the car park
After refuelling, we'll head slowly back down, stopping again at Rifugio La Ciota for a beer, then on to the car park, where this wonderful day will sadly come to an end.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Gilberto, an environmental hiking guide. They say happiness is only real when shared, and for me there's no greater joy than a view earned together. I take people to find the most genuine side of our trails, away from the rush and at footprint pace. I can't wait to share with you not only the walking, but the stories, the silences and — why not — a good piece of cheese at the top. Backpack on, we'll work out the rest as we go. Experience, care for safety and that pinch of adventure it takes to make an outing unforgettable: joining the next walk? 🧀 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
