The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Sfazù and make our way into the Val da Camp, through meadows, larch and spruce woods, in country as wild as it is welcoming. The path is a play of light: turquoise water merging into the sky, trees turning gold in autumn and an almost magical silence. At Lago di Saoseo a small island with a handful of trees catches the eye, the hut standing not far off; then we carry on to Lago Viola.

HOW TO GET THERE
08:30PARKING
Starting from Sfazù
We kick off our day from the small parking area at Sfazù, located along the road to the Bernina Pass. From here, we’ll hop onto the dirt track that winds its way up the Val da Camp. As we traverse through forests of larch and pine trees, we'll enjoy a great warm-up for both our legs and our eyes. The valley slowly opens up, and the scent of moss and resin will be our constant companion along the trail.

Lake Saoseo: A Jewel of the Alps
"After tackling the steepest part of the climb, we emerge into a wide alpine meadow, and the lake unfolds before us in all its glory: deep blue waters, a tiny island at its heart, reflections of the surrounding woods... a truly breathtaking sight!"

Lake Viola (Purple Lake)
We continue on to Lake Val Viola, a more rugged but equally captivating destination. Here, the landscape opens up, becoming almost lunar in its appearance, and the water mirrors the high-altitude sky.

Return Hike
A well-deserved lunch break by one of the two lakes, then we'll head back to the vehicles along the same trail, our eyes filled with wonder!
