Via Mottarone 44, 28838 Omegna provincia del Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Italia. The exact time is confirmed in the group chat. We usually meet a little earlier for breakfast together, when possible.
HOW TO GET THERE
09:30MEETING
Mottarone Car Park
We'll meet at the ski lift car park, where there are a few places to have breakfast or buy a sandwich for the hike. Here we'll hold a short briefing to check our gear and go over the day's route.
10:00SUMMIT
Ridge towards Monte Zughero
From the car park we'll descend along a gentle ridge offering breathtaking views over Lake Orta and the island of San Giulio. The view of the Alpine chain is simply sublime. We'll continue downhill through a beautiful beech forest to Alpe Nuovo. From here we'll start the climb to the summit of Monte Zughero, which will give us a truly unique thrill. The view will sweep over Lake Maggiore, the Borromean Islands and stretch even further, embracing the Swiss Alps, the Varese Prealps and the surrounding valleys. Here we'll have our packed lunch while admiring the scenery, unless the wind forces us to take shelter at Alpe Nuovo.
14:00RETURN
Mottarone Cable Car
We'll leave Alpe Nuovo taking a path that, with a long contour of about 5 km, will offer breathtaking views over Lake Orta. We'll reach the Mottarone cable car station, a place sadly known for a tragic accident and now closed. From here, along about 3 km of easy paved road, we'll return to the car park.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Gilberto, an environmental hiking guide. They say happiness is only real when shared, and for me there's no greater joy than a view earned together. I take people to find the most genuine side of our trails, away from the rush and at footprint pace. I can't wait to share with you not only the walking, but the stories, the silences and — why not — a good piece of cheese at the top. Backpack on, we'll work out the rest as we go. Experience, care for safety and that pinch of adventure it takes to make an outing unforgettable: joining the next walk? 🧀 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
