Snowshoe Hike to Rifugio Scarpa: at the Foot of Mount Agner in the Agordo Dolomites
Snowshoe Hike at the Foot of Agner
Snowshoes in the heart of the Agordo Dolomites, below Monte Agner.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Frassenè Agordino, not far from Agordo, and climb towards Rifugio Scarpa-Gurekian, following either path CAI 771 or the easier access road depending on the snow. We climb calmly, leaving the valley floor behind for a landscape that grows more alpine at every turn. The goal is the hut, magnificently placed below the Agner group: one of the most imposing and recognisable mountains in the Belluno area, seen from here in its full height.
5 reasons to come - Monte Agner seen from below, where it hits hardest - Rifugio Scarpa and its position under the group - a snow climb within everyone's reach - the Agordo Dolomites, away from the busiest circuits - the satisfaction of getting there together, on snowshoes
Who it suits Nothing technical, but climbing on snow asks for a little fitness: we go slowly and arrive together.
The Dolomites in winter are another story: come and find them with the Guidders.
