Path of Oropa for Peace: ring trek between Biella and the Sanctuary
Path of Oropa Peace
Three days of walking, one destination: peace.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Biella, from Cittadellarte, where you collect your credential before taking your first steps. The route is a loop inspired by Michelangelo Pistoletto's Third Paradise: first the I, then the You, finally the We. We climb through the hills past the monumental Sequoia of Bottegone, descend into Valle Cervo passing through Andorno and Sagliano Micca, climb back up the old mule tracks toward Sant'Eurosia to the Oropa basin. The final leg brings us back to Biella, following the stream down through the striking Gorgomoro gorge.
Designer Alberto Conte describes it this way: after three days you return to the starting point, reflecting on the theme of "preventive peace" — the kind that doesn't come after war, but before it.
5 reasons to come - the Sanctuary of Oropa, Sacred Mountain and home of the Black Madonna - the Garden of the Third Paradise, the first installation of its kind in the world - nights spent in good company between one day of walking and the next - villages, mule tracks and the Gorgomoro gorge - a trail created to speak of peace, not just scenery
Who it's for Accessible stages, suitable for families too: all you need is the will to walk, no technical skills required.
Come close the circle with the Guidders: you set off, you walk, you come back changed.
