Zoagli and the ghost village

Ogni volta che arriviamo a Zoagli, piccolo borgo del Golfo del Tigullio, abbiamo sempre la stessa sensazione: un angolo nascosto tra gli scogli, in cui l'uomo ha voluto strappare al mare anche il più piccolo granello di sabbia. Dimenticata tra i boschi nell'entroterra, una manciata di case - Sexi (si pronuncia Seigi) "alto" e "basso" - ormai quasi interamente ricoperta dalla vegetazione, è raggiungibili solo attraverso una ripida mulattiera a gradoni che da Semorile porta a San Pantaleo. Un luogo che nasconde un passato glorioso, fatto di mulini e abili tessitori di stoffe pregiate, che attende i coraggiosi visitatori capaci di trovarlo.

First meeting point: car park of p.zza San Giovanni Paolo II, in Chiavari (GE) - corner of the seafront at the Cristoforo Colombo roundabout.

Second meeting point: once at the station we'll catch the train (9:38) that will take us in a few minutes to Zoagli, the starting point of our trek.

Our trek begins towards the abandoned village of Sexi, along the old mule track of the Valle dei Mulini.

Semorile
Emerald-green pools, palm trees and humpback bridges will accompany us to the gates of Semorile, where Rita's curious works of art await us! We'll stop for lunch and then continue on towards Sexi.

Sexi
We've finally arrived! We'll venture into the heart of the abandoned village of Sexi, a place where time has stood still, waiting for the return of craftsmen and weavers. In the houses immersed in vegetation, you can still find an intact loom, a press, tools and pieces of everyday life from a bygone era.

Zoagli
After our journey through time, we'll walk down the scenic steps leading back to Zoagli for a coffee or focaccia break.

Chiavari
After our break, we'll head back to the cars by train from Zoagli to Chiavari.
