09:00MEETING
Le Frachey
Meeting point: cable car/funicular car park - in front of the ticket office - in the hamlet of Le Frachey, SR45 Ayas (AO).
09:30TRANSFER
Alpe Ciarciero Funicular
After leaving the cars at Frachey we will ride the funicular up to Alpe Ciarciero before starting our hike.
12:00LAKE
Lake Blu
From the upper funicular station we will set off towards Rifugio Ottorino Mezzalama. The way is long but well worth it! Along the path we'll pass Rifugio Ferrero, where we can make a short pit stop, the sunny pastures of Piani di Verra and the small but picturesque Lake Blu. Here we'll stop for lunch before tackling the tough moraine.
16:30HIKING TRAIL
The glacial moraine
From Lake Blu to Rifugio Mezzalama a demanding climb awaits, following the entire glacial moraine. The trail runs along a gravelly ridge which, while not technically difficult and not particularly exposed, is not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo. The effort will be eased by the incredible scenery that gradually brings us closer to some of Monte Rosa's glaciers (Breithorn, Castor and Pollux).
17:00MOUNTAIN HUT
Rifugio Ottorino Mezzalama
Once at Rifugio Mezzalama we can get comfortable, with a great dinner and some rest awaiting us.

Questions?
I've never done a multi-day trek, can I do it?
⌄
You need to be fit enough to walk a full day (8 h a day) and carry your backpack for 2 days. Flat or slightly inclined sections with short stretches on steep slopes and rocks, not tiring or demanding.
