Monte Zucco and Pizzo Cerro Trek: An Intense Hike in Val Brembana
Monte Zucco and Pizzo Cerro
Two summits in one day, above San Pellegrino.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders and climb through silent woods to the hamlet of Grosnello, then the path opens out and leads to Pizzo Cerro. The link across to Monte Zucco is the finest stretch: an open ridge, ever-wider views over the Orobie pre-Alps and the wild, uncrowded feel that makes this part of the Val Brembana different from what you expect. The pace is firm from the start, but the satisfaction of two summits in a day repays everything.
5 reasons to come - two summits in a single route - the ridge link between Pizzo Cerro and Monte Zucco - the hamlet of Grosnello along the climb - open views over the Orobie pre-Alps - wild, rarely visited country
Who it suits An intense outing with plenty of height gain: fitness and a sure step are needed.
Genuine nature and two summits: come and take them with the Guidders.
