The experience

We set off with the Guidders from the village of Civate and the path drops straight into the woods, climbing an ever steeper line that tests legs and lungs. The effort is repaid step by step: at the cross on Monte Cornizzolo the view opens onto Lake Como, Lake Pusiano and the whole range of Lombard pre-Alps. We carry on along the crest to Monte Rai and return in a loop.

Our adventure begins in Civate, at an elevation of 659 meters, where we'll discover the enchanting Abbey of San Pietro al Monte.

Cornizzolo Summit Hike
From the Abbey, we'll hike directly to the summit of Cornizzolo (1240m), one of the most iconic mountains in the Como area.

Mount Rai: Summit Views & Stunning Hikes Await!
From Cornizzolo, we'll generally maintain our altitude, and after a refreshing break at the Consiliere mountain hut, we'll summit Monte Rai (1260m).

"From Monte Rai, we'll pass by Corno Birone and complete our loop back to Civate."
