Trekking to the Maria e Franco Lomini Refuge at Passo Dernal
Rifugio Lomini at Passo Dernal
A hut where hardly anyone arrives.
The experience
The Maria e Franco Lomini is an alpine hut of a kind you rarely see: remote, isolated, closed in among the Adamello valleys. There are several ways up, but all of them are long. We set off with the Guidders from Tres, in the Val Paghera, and stay on the Camonica side, climbing the Valle Dois, then on a demanding path and scree to the Passo Dernal, where the hut stands in the company of its main summit, the Re di Castello. Up here you mostly meet walkers on the Alta Via dell'Adamello, and you feel it.
5 reasons to come - a genuinely isolated hut, far from everything - the Passo Dernal and the Re di Castello - the Valle Dois, wild and silent - a stretch of the Alta Via dell'Adamello - the satisfaction of reaching where few people do
Who it suits A long, tiring route with a demanding path and scree: good fitness and a sure step are needed.
One of the wildest valleys in the Brescia mountains: come and walk it with the Guidders.
