Rifugio Cuney, Europe's highest sanctuary

An exciting trek in the heart of the Saint-Barthélemy Valley, among boundless views and iconic places of mountaineering in the Aosta Valley. With the Guidders, we will climb toward the Cuney Refuge, located at 2,652 meters above sea level along the Alta Via trails of the Aosta Valley. The path crosses alpine pastures and high-mountain landscapes, offering spectacular views of the great Alpine peaks, from Monte Rosa to Gran Paradiso. Welcoming us, we will find the evocative Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Snows, considered the highest sanctuary in Europe, and the refuge, overlooking one of the most beautiful panoramic balconies in the region. From Col du Salvé, the trail continues through high-altitude terrain, crossing gentle grassy slopes and small glacial hollows. The route stays almost level, with moderate gradients and ever-expanding views over the peaks of the Aosta Valley, until it reaches the spectacular Cuney basin, home to the mountain hut and the famous sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows. 1.5 km, +100 m, 35 min
