Trekking on Monte Motta in Valmalenco
Trekking on Monte Motta in Valmalenco
A summit above the Valmalenco, with the Bernina opposite.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Franscia, above Lanzada, among barns and farm roads; then the path moves into more open alpine country, with steady gradients and stony ground in places. We climb to Passo Campo Lungo and from there to the summit of Monte Motta, with the last steeper metres asking for a little care. From the top the view opens onto the Bernina group and the whole valley: long, but never extreme, and the summit is earned together.
5 reasons to come - a real summit above the Valmalenco - the view across the Bernina group - Passo Campo Lungo along the climb - a varied path between pastures and high ground - a long climb that stays within reach if you train
Who it suits You need a steady pace, decent stamina and care on the last steeper metres to the top.
Earning a summit together is another thing: come with the Guidders.
