Trekking to Lake Aviolo from Val Paghera, including lunch at Rifugio Sandro Occhi
Lake Aviolo from Val Paghera
A lake set among the Adamello mountains.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from the Val Paghera, above Vezza d'Oglio, and work up the valley among firs, footbridges and rock steps, with the sound of water never far and the Aviolo waterfall appearing along the way. The climb is steady and steeper in places, but the arrival repays everything: Lago Aviolo, one of the finest sheets of water in the Brescia Alps, with Rifugio Sandro Occhi right there for lunch.
5 reasons to come - Lago Aviolo, among the finest in the Brescia mountains - the Aviolo waterfall on the way up - lunch at Rifugio Sandro Occhi - the Val Paghera, with its streams and footbridges - Adamello country without needing two days
Who it suits A steady climb with some steeper sections: normal mountain walking fitness is enough.
A lake worth the climb: come and see it with the Guidders.
