Trekking to Cima Mattaciul from Canè: A wild excursion featuring mountain bivouacs, ridgelines, and panoramic views of the Adamello.

A real summit, and one that sees few people.

We set off with the Guidders from Canè, in the upper Valle Camonica, and climb towards Saline, the Case di Bles and Plassa Gerù, where the bivouac hut offers a spectacular view of the Adamello group. From there the trek gets serious: we work up an alpine amphitheatre between boulder fields and steep slopes to the notch and the Passo di Rovaia. Then we leave the numbered paths and climb the crest among loose rock and cairns to the fore-summit and the top of Cima Mattaciul. The last metres go up a gully, hands on rock, and then it is all view.
