Five days along the Apuan ridge, where the mountains seem to rise out of the sea.
The experience
With the Guidders we cross the whole Apuan ridge, between the Garfagnana and the Carrara side, walking panoramic crests, ancient woods, hidden valleys and spectacular marble mountains.
Day 1. From Castelpoggio to Rifugio Orto di Donna, at the foot of Pizzo d'Uccello. Day 2. From Orto di Donna to Vagli Sotto, below Monte Pisanino. Day 3. From Vagli Sotto to Isola Santa, a stone village poised above the lake. Day 4. From Isola Santa to Rifugio Rossi, beneath the Panie. Day 5. From Rifugio Rossi to Cardoso, passing the foot of Monte Procinto.
