Sunset Hike to Monte Due Mani and the Locatelli Bivouac from Lecco: 1,000 m of Elevation Gain
Sunset Hike to Monte Due Mani and the Locatelli Bivouac from Lecco: 1,000 m of Elevation Gain
A thousand metres of climbing, and sunset at the top.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Maggio di Cremeno, in the Valsassina, and follow the Grignoni path through the woods as the afternoon light filters between the trees. The climb is not a gentle one, and that is exactly what makes it: you gain height little by little, through ever-wider glimpses, up to the final pull onto the summit of Monte Due Mani. Up there, with the Locatelli bivouac a step away, we sit and wait for the sunset as the Lecco mountains change colour.
5 reasons to come - sunset from the summit of Monte Due Mani - the Locatelli bivouac right below the top - the Grignoni path through the woods - a thousand metres of climbing, every one of them earned - the Lecco mountains catching fire in the evening
Who it suits A demanding, continuous climb: you need good fitness and a taste for coming back by head torch.
Hard work, yes, but with a grin: come and try it with the Guidders.
