Sunset Trek to Culmine di Dazio: one of Valtellina’s most beautiful panoramic viewpoints
Culmine di Dazio Trekking
It is not high, but the view catches you off guard.
The experience
The Culmine di Dazio is an isolated hill in the heart of the lower Valtellina, and at sunset it becomes one of the finest balconies in the Sondrio area. We set off with the Guidders from the village of Dazio and follow a path through chestnut woods, old mule tracks and the distinctive polished rocks of the hill, an ancient formation that survived even the great glaciers. The route alternates woodland stretches with sharper climbs, and closes by dropping back among the trees as the light goes.
5 reasons to come - sunset from one of the finest balconies in the lower Valtellina - the polished rocks of the Colle di Dazio, which outlived the glaciers - old mule tracks among the chestnut trees - an isolated hill, with a clear view along the whole valley - a short but intense climb, perfect after work
Who it suits A varied route with a few stretches of broken ground that want a sure step, but nothing mountaineering about it.
Some views do not depend on altitude: come and find out with the Guidders.
