The Light Trail: a scenic loop above the Bossea Caves
The Light Trail loop
A trail born above the darkness of a cave, and named after the light.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Bossea, right above the roof of the famous Bossea Caves, and from there the Light Trail takes us on a loop that keeps changing face. We climb through the woods passing the hamlets of Case Ubbè, Stalle Pianazzi and Case Becchetti, with views opening up suddenly over the valley. The highest point is reached near Mundinot, before we descend and close the loop back to Bossea.
The name isn't random: the first stretch is all light and panorama above the cave, while beneath our feet lie the dark galleries explored only by speleologists. A contrast that also goes by the name 1816, the year the cave was discovered.
5 reasons to join - a loop that tells a story of light and darkness in one trail - the view over Fontane and the upper valley from Stalle Pianazzi - mountain hamlets following one another along the way - the geological wonder of the Bossea Caves right at the start - a full day of walking with no technical difficulty
Who it's for Anyone with a basic level of fitness and a love for woods and views. No technical experience needed.
