Rwanda in 15 days: savannah, volcanoes, Lake Kivu and the chimpanzee forest

Rwanda is the Switzerland of Africa: green, orderly, safe. In 15 days you cross the whole country by jeep: day and night safari in Akagera National Park with a night in a tent in the savannah, the trek up the Bisoke volcano through bamboo and high meadows, two days on Lake Kivu, Nyungwe forest with the canopy walkway above the jungle and chimpanzee tracking at dawn, the King's Palace at Nyanza. Kigali at the start and the end, with the Genocide Memorial that shows you what rebirth means.

From Bwindi, in Uganda, whoever wants adds gorilla trekking: you decide after booking and pay on site. Evenings end around the fire, talking as if you'd always known each other. And yes: we fly, Guidders.

Good to know

Not included: flight, airport transfers, meals, fuel, visa for Rwanda (about 50 USD, also online) and Uganda (€50), tent in Akagera (€25), gorilla trekking (€1,000, optional). Passport valid for at least 6 months. Yellow fever vaccination only if arriving from a risk country; hepatitis A, typhoid and malaria prophylaxis recommended for some areas. Bring mosquito spray, sun cream and comfortable shoes.
