Capanna Margherita at 4500 meters
The highest hut in Europe, and a night up there.
The experience
Capanna Margherita is The Objective: the highest refuge in Europe, on the summit of Punta Gnifetti, deep in the glacial world of Monte Rosa.
Day 1. From Alagna Valsesia we ride the lifts and reach Rifugio Gnifetti (or Rifugio Mantova, depending on the date), to acclimatise and get used to the equipment. Day 2. A start in the middle of the night, roped up on the glacier, to Capanna Margherita. Then the descent, with four-thousanders all around.
5 reasons to come - sleeping in the highest hut in Europe - the summit of Punta Gnifetti - the glacier crossed roped up, at dawn - the panorama of the Monte Rosa massif - a challenge with yourself that you never forget
