Roadto4000 - Bishorn 4,153 m: The Perfect 4,000-Meter Peak for Your High-Altitude Adventure!
To the summit of the Bishorn
A graceful four-thousander, the way into high altitude.
The experience
The Bishorn, 4,153 metres, is one of the most accessible four-thousanders in the Alps, though it would be a mistake to call it minor: here high altitude is experienced in its purest, quietest form.
Day 1. We set off with the Guidders from the village of Zinal, in the heart of the Valais, and climb a long, spectacular valley to the Cabane de Tracuit, where we sleep. Day 2. A start in the middle of the night, roped up on the glacier, to the summit of the Bishorn. Then the descent and the return to Zinal.
5 reasons to come - an accessible four-thousander that is never ordinary - the night at the Cabane de Tracuit - the glacier at dawn, roped up - the Valais, one of the homes of mountaineering - the Road to 4000 project, one step at a time
Who it suits This is glacier mountaineering: good fitness and the will to test yourself at altitude are needed.
Your four-thousander is waiting: set off with the Guidders.
