WHY THIS HIKE

Rifugio Terre Rosse when winter comes

An easy climb with no steep pulls and a hot lunch at the hut facing the Bergamo Orobie: in winter Rifugio Terre Rosse, above Carona in the upper Val Brembana, is the right goal for anyone who wants the winter mountains without the effort.

The experience

With the Guidders we set off from Carona and go straight into the fir and larch woods. We climb slowly on a well-marked path, and as we gain height the view opens over Val Brembana and the peaks around. At the hut we warm up at the table together, then we walk back down the same way, taking our time.

It is an easy hike on a well-marked path: good even for people who walk little or are new to hiking. In winter you need boots, mini-crampons, gloves, a warm hat and layers. Lunch at the hut is optional.

Winter mountains, no rush: come with the Guidders.
