Ponti Hut and Predarossa Valley: A Spectacular Trek at the Foot of Monte Disgrazia

One of the most iconic excursions in Val Masino takes us into the heart of the spectacular Predarossa Valley, at the foot of the majestic Monte Disgrazia.

The trek starts from the large glacial plain of Predarossa, one of the most fascinating natural environments in Lombardy. Here, the landscape immediately opens up in all its vastness: alpine meadows, rocks smoothed by the glacier, and the imposing walls of the Disgrazia group that dominate the valley.

Following the path that goes up the valley, the panorama becomes increasingly spectacular. The ascent is gradual and panoramic, allowing you to admire one of the wildest scenarios in the Rhaetian Alps up close.

The last part of the route becomes a bit more alpine: the path becomes rockier and requires more attention, but without particular difficulties for those who are used to walking in the mountains.

The effort is amply rewarded by the arrival at the Cesare Ponti Refuge (2559 m), one of the most spectacular refuges in Val Masino, with a privileged view of the granite peaks of Monte Disgrazia.

Here awaits the best moment of the day: a well-deserved lunch break with Valtellina pizzoccheri and fresh beer, before starting the ring-route back towards the Predarossa plain.
