Capanna 2000 Refuge: At the Foot of Pizzo Arera
Capanna 2000 at the foot of Pizzo Arera
A hut resting below Pizzo Arera.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Plassa, at Zambla Alta, following a pleasant path through woods, pastures and ever-wider views over the Bergamo mountains. The eye wanders across Monte Alben, Pizzo Grem, Cima Foppazzi and Cima di Menna, until we reach Rifugio Capanna 2000, resting on the southern flank of Pizzo Arera: one of the best-loved huts in the Orobie.
5 reasons to come - Rifugio Capanna 2000, below the walls of the Arera - the view over the Alben, the Grem and Cima di Menna - woods and pastures alternating as you climb - a pleasant path, never brutal - the southern flank of Pizzo Arera, seen up close
Who it suits A steady climb on a well-marked path: normal walking fitness is enough.
An Orobie classic: come and do it with the Guidders.
