Pyrenees: 7 days between Ordesa and Monte Perdido, canyons, waterfalls and Spanish huts
Europe's Grand Canyon is in the Pyrenees and nobody knows it
The Ordesa valley is a fifteen-kilometre glacial canyon with thousand-metre vertical walls, stepped waterfalls and beech woods on the floor. Above rises Monte Perdido, 3,355 metres, the highest limestone massif in Europe, and around it a national park that has protected one of the last wild corners of the Pyrenees since 1918.
Is this trip for me?
Five vibes, an effort level and a type of trip: so you can tell in ten seconds if it's for you.
Seven days between the Cola de Caballo at the head of Ordesa, the Circo de Soaso, the Añisclo canyon and the Brèche de Roland, the hundred-metre cleft in the border ridge that legend says was cut by Roland's sword. You sleep in Spanish huts and mountain guesthouses, eat migas and drink cider.
