Punta Venerocolo: Summit Views of the Adamello Glaciers
Punta Venerocolo over the Adamello glaciers
A summit above three thousand metres, facing the Adamello glaciers.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Malga Caldea, in the Val d'Avio, following the historic service road that climbs towards the lakes of the hydroelectric scheme. Through woods, waterfalls and wide alpine flats we reach Rifugio Garibaldi, overlooking the reservoir, then climb to the Passo Venerocolo and finally to Punta Venerocolo, 3,323 metres. From up there the eye falls on the Adamello glaciers and the vast Pian di Neve: a view that seems to belong to another world.
