The experience

We set off with the Guidders into the heart of the Orobie Valtellinesi park: the route alternates woods, summer pastures and high grazing, with wind-shaped larches accompanying the climb. We pass the Bivacco Alpe Piazza, touch Pizzo dei Galli and reach the summit of Pizzo Olano: from up there you see the Orobie, the Masino group, Pizzo Scalino, the Adamello and, to the west, Monte Legnone with the Splügen mountains. Below, the Valtellina stretches all the way to Lake Como.

Pizzo dei Galli boasts incredible views of Lake Como and the surrounding valleys, and just a bit higher up, the summit of Pizzo Olano offers equally stunning panoramas, crowned by its iconic summit cross.

We'll descend the opposite side, passing by the Olano Alpine Hut.
