WHY THIS HIKE

Pizzo Coca, the highest peak of the Orobie

The King of the Orobie, 3,052 metres.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

Pizzo Coca is the highest summit in the whole Orobie range: a stern mountain with an unmistakable rocky profile, commanding the divide between the upper Val Seriana and the Valtellina. We set off with the Guidders from Valbondione and climb to Rifugio Coca and Lago Coca, then to the Bocchetta dei Camosci, where the truly alpine part begins. The final stretch leads to the summit, and from up there you understand why they call it the King.

5 reasons to come - the highest summit in the Orobie, at 3,052 metres - Rifugio Coca and its lake - the Bocchetta dei Camosci, where everything changes - the divide between Val Seriana and Valtellina beneath you - a mountain that commands respect, and earns it

Who it suits A long, demanding route: excellent fitness, a sure step and familiarity with alpine terrain are needed.

The great rewards come after the great climbs: come with the Guidders.
