WHY THIS TRIP
Four days of walking at four thousand metres to reach Machu Picchu by the back door
You can reach Machu Picchu in two hours by train, or by walking for four days. The Salkantay trek is the real alternative to the Inca Trail, with one advantage: no permit cap. It crosses a pass at 4,630 metres beneath a mountain the Incas held sacred, drops into cloud forest among the coffee farms and shows you Machu Picchu for the first time from the ruins of Llactapata, the day before you go in.

REQUIRED
Safety
MUST READ
Optional extras
PAID ON SITE
Weather and changes of plan
