The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Montecampione, in the heart of the Brescia pre-Alps, as daylight starts giving way to evening. Snowshoes on, we follow the snowy ridge towards Rifugio Dosso Rotondo, by way of Monte Splaza. Step after step the resort lights fall behind: around us only snow, wide open spaces and views across the Brescia mountains, while the sky changes colour and the head torches come on. At the hut we take everything off, step into the warmth and sit down to dinner all together. Then back onto the snow for the return, this time in full darkness.

Meet at the large parking area between the two chairlifts at Plan di Montecampione 1800. Here you’ll meet your guide and the rest of the Guidders group, check your equipment, and take part in a short briefing on the snow conditions and the route. Then it’s time to strap on your snowshoes and set off.
17:30VIEWPOINT
Mount Splaza
We’ll set off along the spectacular ridge that leads from Plan di Montecampione to Monte Splaza. The views up here are truly breathtaking, stretching from nearby Monte Muffetto to the Orobie Alps, with the striking south face of Presolana standing out on the opposite side of the Val Camonica. Far below, the waters of Lake Iseo and Lake Garda complete an unforgettable panorama.
19:00MOUNTAIN HUT
Dosso Rotondo Mountain Hut
We’ll make our way to Dosso Rotondo Mountain Hut, the destination of our snowshoe hike. Once we’re warm inside, we’ll take off our gear and sit down together for dinner at the hut. It will be the most convivial moment of the evening: good food, the mountains, and time to get to know the other participants better.

Return
After dinner We’ll put our snowshoes and headlamps back on and head out into the night. We’ll follow the trail back to Montecampione 1800, this time completely surrounded by the darkness. The landscape we crossed just a few hours earlier will feel completely transformed. Return to Plan di Montecampione and the end of our evening together.
