Mount San Defendente: A balcony overlooking Lake Como.
Mount San Defendente over Lake Como
A little-known summit, and one of the finest views over the lake.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from the car park at Biosio, above Bellano, and climb through woods and ever-wider glimpses towards Monte Albiga and then Monte San Defendente. The final stretch is an easy crest that makes the arrival even better. From up here the eye takes in the Grignone, the Croce di Muggio, the Legnone and Lake Como: at the foot of the summit cross we stop, breathe and share a bite to eat.
5 reasons to come - a little-known summit with an enormous view - the easy final crest - the Grignone, the Legnone and the lake from one spot - Monte Albiga along the climb - the snack at the top, at the foot of the cross
