The summit of Monte Porrara

Il Monte Porrara, imponente vetta situata tra la Maestosa Majella e gli Altipiani Maggiori, con i suoi 2137 metri di altezza, incanta per la sua bellezza naturale e la ricca storia che racchiude. Pietro da Morrone, futuro Papa Celestino V, visse qui per tre anni, ritirandosi in una grotta alle pendici della montagna. L'ascesa alla cima offre un'esperienza emozionante con un percorso mediamente impegnativo, ma gratificante, che regala una vista mozzafiato fino al mare Adriatico. Ma il Monte Porrara è più di una splendida montagna. Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, i tedeschi riconobbero la sua posizione strategica e costruirono trincee ancora visibili, oltre a convertire un edificio religioso in un carcere. Oggi, una parte delle sue alture è ancora utilizzata per il pascolo, mantenendo viva un'antica tradizione che si fonde armoniosamente con la natura selvaggia circostante. Il Monte Porrara è un luogo che unisce bellezza paesaggistica e memoria storica tumultuosa, invitando ad esplorare e condividere l'emozione di questa terra incantata.
