Mount Pasquella: A Scenic Trail Overlooking Lake Como
Mount Pasquella over Lake Como
A village suspended above the lake, with the water below you all the way up.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Pigra, a village perched above Lake Como, and climb towards Monte Pasquella, alternating woods, pastures and open crests. It is one of those outings that make you feel properly in the mountains while staying close to home: constant lake views, manageable height gain and the satisfaction of a summit. The return passes Rifugio Alpe Colonno, well worth a stop before heading down.
5 reasons to come - constant views over Lake Como - the summit of Monte Pasquella - Rifugio Alpe Colonno on the way back - Pigra, a village suspended above the lake - real mountains without extreme height gain
Who it suits Accessible height gain on well-marked paths: normal walking fitness is enough.
A small gem above the lake: come and find it with the Guidders.
