Snowshoeing Mount Olano: A Panoramic Terrace Overlooking Lower Valtellina
Snowshoeing on Monte Olano
A natural terrace over the lower Valtellina, on snowshoes.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Rasura and climb towards Monte Olano by way of Rifugio della Corte. The route alternates silent woodland and open clearings, with a gradual climb that offers ever-wider glimpses. At the top the horizon opens all around: Morbegno and Talamona below, the Costiera dei Cech, the Rhaetian Alps, the elegant profile of Monte Disgrazia, the Val Tartano and the Bitto valleys. In winter the snow-covered woods make everything quieter still.
5 reasons to come - the panoramic terrace of Monte Olano - Monte Disgrazia and the Costiera dei Cech opposite - Rifugio della Corte along the climb - snow-covered woodland, silent as only winter can be - a summit within reach even on snowshoes
Who it suits A gradual climb with nothing technical: fine even if it is your first time on snowshoes.
