Mount Moregallo: Hiking to the Cross Overlooking Lake Como
The cross of Mount Moregallo over Lake Como
A slab of white rock, then the cross.
The experience
Above Valmadrera, Monte Moregallo is one of the most captivating summits of the Triangolo Lariano. The path begins in the woods, quiet and enclosed, then gains height and opens out. The hardest part is the last, where you cross the distinctive slab of white rock: a few more steps and you are at the top, crowned by its cross. From up there the eye sweeps all around: the Corni di Canzo, the Cornizzolo, the Resegone, the Grignetta and Lake Como shining below.
5 reasons to come - the Moregallo cross and the full-circle panorama - the slab of white rock on the final stretch - Lake Como shining below the summit - the Grignetta and the Resegone in front of you - the silent woods on the way up
Who it suits Hard in physical terms, but with no exposed sections: right for anyone who already has a few medium walks behind them.
