Description
1352 metres, three lakes beneath your feet. Not bad for a Sunday.
We set off with the Guidders from Bracchio and climb into the woods, through beech trees that grow thicker and thicker. The route is a loop: we climb steadily up to the ridge, reach the summit of Monte Faiè and descend on another side, passing through the Alpe Ompio. Along the Pianezza ridge the view suddenly opens up: Lake Orta, Lake Maggiore, Mottarone, Montorfano and Lake Mergozzo, all together in a single glance.
On the way back we pass near the Rifugio Fantoli, a historic CAI Verbania mountain hut: a possible detour for a break, before setting off again towards Bracchio.

Who it's suited for
You'll need good stamina and trained legs: the elevation gain is noticeable, but there are no particular technical difficulties. Perfect for those looking for their first real challenge of the day.
