Lo specchio del Latemar: Lago di Carezza
Lake Carezza below the Latemar
The rainbow lake, and its legend.
The experience
In the striking Val d'Ega, a few kilometres from Nova Levante, lies an alpine lake of emerald green water, famous for the reflections the light creates: in Ladin they call it Lec de Ergobando, the Rainbow Lake. The name comes from its beauty but also from a legend: they say a mermaid lived in its depths, and that the sorcerer Masarè fell hopelessly in love with her. With the Guidders we reach the Lago di Mezzo and then Lago di Carezza, with the Latemar mirrored in the water.
