WHY THIS HIKE

Lago Vago and the panoramic ridges

An exposed crest, and a lake of unreal turquoise.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Livigno on an intense climb that would be satisfying on its own, but it is the crest — exposed in places, with sharp gradients — that makes this day genuinely exciting. Step by step the view widens, up to the jewel of the area: Lago Vago, famous for turquoise shades that make the setting look almost unreal. Above it, the summit of Monte Vago completes the picture.

5 reasons to come - Lago Vago and its incredible turquoise - the final crest, exposed and exhilarating - the summit of Monte Vago - a view that widens with every step - Livigno seen from its wildest side

Who it suits An intense climb with an exposed crest and sharp gradients: fitness, a sure step and no trouble with heights.

For those who love a genuine challenge: come with the Guidders.

HOW TO GET THERE
08:30PARKING
Departure
We start from the Forcola Pass, with a gentle beginning to the trail. A series of switchbacks leads uphill, gradually leaving the mountain hut behind us, while ahead, wide open meadows come into view. In some sections, the path becomes steeper, requiring a bit of scrambling over rocks, but nothing too difficult or exposed.
10:00LAKE
Lake Vago
We reach Lake Vago and, before tackling the last and most challenging leg of our hike, we'll pause to admire its turquoise waters.
11:30VIEWPOINT
Mount Vago
We reach the summit after a final, more challenging stretch along the ridge. From the top, we'll soak in panoramic views of all the Livigno mountains, in the company of ibex, eagles, and if we're lucky, the elusive bearded vulture.
15:00RETURN
End of Hike
After rewarding your soul with a well-deserved lunch break and a tasty sandwich, we'll head back to the vehicles along the same trail we came in on.
