WHY THIS HIKE

Lake Lagazzuolo in Valmalenco

The Mallero swollen with meltwater, and a lake among the larches.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from San Giuseppe, one of the most genuine corners of the Valmalenco, and immediately cross the Mallero stream, swollen with the water coming down off the mountains. The path quickly enters the alpine forest, where larches and conifers are waking after winter and the ground still holds a few tongues of snow. We pass the Bivacco Alpini and reach Lago Lagazzuolo, where the silence of spring at altitude is unlike any other.

5 reasons to come - Lago Lagazzuolo in spring - the Mallero stream swollen with meltwater - the larch and conifer forest waking up - the Bivacco Alpini along the route - the Valmalenco without the summer crowds

Who it suits A mountain route with possible residual snow: a sure step and proper footwear are needed.

Spring in the Valmalenco is another season: come and live it with the Guidders.
