WHY THIS HIKE

Lake Antermoia below the Catinaccio

A lake born from a name spoken by mistake.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We are in the Catinaccio d'Antermoia, in the heart of the Fassa Dolomites. Legend tells of Oswald von Wolkenstein, a young man in love with music: a spell broke every instrument in his hands. A saliga of the woods loved him and revealed the curse, asking him never to speak her name. When he found it out and said it, the girl dissolved into a stream of water that wrapped around her: Lake Antermoia was born.

The route follows a mule track into the beautiful Val Duron, among huts and marmots, before climbing to the gem of the lake.

5 reasons to come - Lake Antermoia and its legend - the Val Duron and its huts - marmots along the way - the Catinaccio, queen of the Fassa Dolomites - a view that repays the whole climb

Who it suits A fairly demanding walk: good fitness is needed.

A story you walk through: come with the Guidders.
