Twin Lakes: Camping Trekking Beneath the Stars
Starry Night at the Gemelli Lakes
A night under canvas, beneath one of the clearest skies in the Orobie.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Carona in the afternoon and climb steadily towards the Laghi Gemelli, on a path through woods and pastures to one of the finest alpine basins in the Val Brembana. Once there, we pitch the tents near the lake, in the permitted area. After supper — packed or cooked on a stove — we stretch out on a groundsheet and wait for the meteor shower, with the water mirroring it all. Next day, a loop among the lakes: Lago Colombo, Lago del Becco, Lago Marcio and Lago delle Casere, between dams, high meadows and views worth the trip.
5 reasons to come - sleeping in a tent beside the Laghi Gemelli - shooting stars reflected in the water - the alpine lake loop on day two - the historic dams of the upper Val Brembana - a night in the mountains like no other
