Porcile Lakes and Dordona Mountain Hut
Porcile Lakes and Dordona Hut
Two alpine lakes and a hut on the divide between valleys.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Fusine, in the Val Tartano, and climb in earnest through pastures, scree and high valley country to the Laghi di Porcile, set among the Valtellina Orobie. From there we reach Rifugio Dordona, in a position that holds two worlds together: the Val Tartano on one side, the Val Madre on the other, with views of peaks and glacial basins. It is a day that brings together water, altitude and border history, with the hut as a solid, welcoming objective.
5 reasons to come - the Laghi di Porcile, genuinely alpine - Rifugio Dordona, between two different valleys - the crossing from Val Tartano into Val Madre - the glacial basins of the Valtellina Orobie - a rewarding climb you feel in your legs
