Grom Lakes from the Mortirolo Pass
The Grom lakes from Mortirolo Pass
A line in the grass, and a high mountain lake.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders along the panoramic road that runs from the Passo del Mortirolo to Pianaccio. From the meadows above the parking spot the climb begins: the line is unwaymarked but clearly worn into the grass, and it soon leads to more open ground where the path becomes obvious and enters the valley. The setting turns striking at once, the grass thinning out and the first scree appearing, up to the alpine dairies and Lago di Grom.
5 reasons to come - Lago di Grom, at the head of a silent valley - the alpine dairies along the route - a line you have to read, not a waymarked highway - the Passo del Mortirolo as a starting point - scree and meadow alternating as you climb
Who it suits The line is unwaymarked: some experience, a sense of direction and a sure step are needed.
A valley you discover by walking it: come with the Guidders.
