Isola del Giglio: 4 days on foot around the granite island, coves and vineyards above the sea
Twenty-one square kilometres of granite in the middle of the Tyrrhenian
Giglio is a block of granite risen from the sea: twenty-one square kilometres, three villages and a network of mule tracks farmers used to reach vineyards hanging over the water. Outside the two summer months the island empties and goes back to itself: silence, Mediterranean scrub and a sea that is already clear in April.
Is this trip for me?
Five vibes, an effort level and a type of trip: so you can tell in ten seconds if it's for you.
Four days to walk all of it: Giglio Castello with its Pisan walls at the island's top, the terraces of ansonaco wine clinging to the rock, the Caldane beach reachable only on foot, and the full coastal circuit. You sleep in Giglio Porto and eat fish and panficato cake.
