The Chapel Trail to Orino Fort - History and Panoramic Views over the Campo dei Fiori
The Chapel Trail to Orino Fort
Fourteen baroque chapels, and a fort at the top.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders along the famous Sacro Monte di Varese, a historic route passing fourteen baroque chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary: each one different, each holding frescoes and statues that tell centuries of art. We pass beneath the imposing Arch of San Carlo Borromeo, crowned by the great statue of the saint, and carry on into the Campo dei Fiori park to the Forte di Orino and the Punta di mezzo, where the view opens across the whole province.
5 reasons to come - the fourteen baroque chapels of the Sacro Monte - the Arch of San Carlo Borromeo - the Forte di Orino, with its history - the view from the Campo dei Fiori park - history and art the whole way along
